Overview

Under minimal supervision, the Test Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of manufacturing test equipment and/or test plans, procedures, and results reports. The Test Engineer will contribute to defining technical proposals/equipment/methods for new business as well as improvements on existing business. The Test Engineer will define the manufacturing work instructions and procedures for the electrical/functional testing of products at all levels of the manufacturing cycle.

Major Position Responsibilities

 

  • Broad understanding of servo/synchro/resolver/DC motor test using semi-automated and automated rotating/positioning systems
  • Proficiency in use of test (production/lab) equipment and writing software tools, including LabVIEW/LabWindows, MATLAB and dSPACE.
  • Ability to select required instrumentation, power sources, test references and data acquisition equipment for testing as well as environmental stress screening (ESS/HASS/HALT)
  • Expertise in assessing personnel safety and product protection practices when using/during testing and a disciplined adherence to test procedures and standard safety practices
  • Complete understanding of standard test documentation formats and clarity of content
  • Clear, concise technical writing skills focused around detailed test plans, equipment set-up and use procedures and writing summary reports based on acquisition data and results.
  • Proficiency in estimating labor hours for assigned projects/tasks, based on prior similar efforts
  • Ability to assess, define and contribute to methods of failure analysis investigations and conclusion for root cause that may include customer communication and/or customer participation.

 

Ability to specify test equipment and process criteria for product testing, to collaborate with peers and designer engineers in developing non-standard test equipment or Special Test Equipment for product specific or customer specific acceptance tests, as required by product

  • Other Electrical/Electro-Mechanical/Mechanical functions supporting the manufacturing operations and design engineering.

Basic Qualifications

BS degree plus 5 - 8 years of relevant/related experience
