Overview

General Dynamics manufactures and sells a broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance markets. We presently have a need for an Electrical Engineer Intern at our San Diego (Otay Mesa) location.

Major Position Responsibilities

We are in search of a candidate with experience or interest in many of the following areas:

  • Motion control design/analysis of electro-mechanical systems (a.k.a. mechatronics).
  • Experience in robotics is a plus.
  • Matlab/Simulink modeling, design synthesis, and/or systems analysis.
  • PID Controllers or other controller/compensator design architectures.
  • Embedded software/firmware development (e.g. TI MCUs, DSPs, Microchip PICs, FPGAs).
  • Circuit Design and/or Analysis (e.g. PSPICE analysis).
  • C Programming language experience.
  • Virtual Instrumentation: Creating GUI (Graphical User Interface) control panels for industrial systems, for purposes such as automated product testing, measurement and calibration, data acquisition and logging, and end-user product interfaces (e.g. LabWindows CVI and/or LabView).
  • System interface design and integration (e.g. Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, RS-232, RS-422).

Basic Qualifications

Software design is also a key requirement, but some amount of electrical hardware design experience is a must.

 

 

Required Education:

  • 2 years or more toward a 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • All applicants must be US persons (US citizen or permanent resident status).
  • Security Clearance is NOT required.
