GD-OTS is looking for an experienced Sr. EHS Specialist to join our Lincoln, NE organization. We are expanding rapidly and looking for motivated and creative individuals who want to help support and shape this organization as we grow.
Major Position Responsibilities
Particular duties will include; EHS metrics reporting, maintaining/improving the business corrective action tracking system, updating/streamlining EHS procedures and work instructions.
Compiling data and statistics on work-related injuries/illnesses, participating in LEAN initiatives, supporting ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 registration.
Fulfilling customer contractual obligations related to EHS matters.
Supporting and performing internal self-audits, maintaining the EHS internal documents.
Coordinating and supporting EHS-lead new business initiatives, developing processes to maintain EHS related records.
Performing regulatory and compliance assessments. This hands-on position requires the ability to interact positively with all levels of the organization. Including; management, supervisory and hourly employees.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate and work well with others on all levels on health, safety and environmental issues.
Strong organizational skills and ability to self-prioritize.
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
A strong sense of accountability for results and principles.
Ability to perform and manage multiple tasks in a fast, high pace work environment.
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Thorough knowledge of state and federal health and safety regulations is essential. A working knowledge of international ISO 14001 standards and OHSAS 18001 guidelines is a plus. Experience A minimum of 2-3 years of EHS experience in an industrial or military setting, preferably within an organization registered to ISO 14001 or OHSAS 18001, supporting environmental and/or safety programs.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and communicate recommendations effectively with others. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to collect and interpret intonation, apply criteria and make recommendations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong computer skills. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook a must.
