Overview

Production Operator uses equipment such as a dolly to assist with manufacturing, packaging, and other steps along a production line. This position is labor intensive, working 12 hour shifts rotating biweekly from days to nights. The goal is to ensure that the production process runs safely and smoothly and that the plant produces quality propellant products.

St. Marks Powder makes over 100 commercial product symbols in rimfire, pistol, shotshell, industrial tool and centerfire rifle applications. St. Marks Powder has a strong technical base to help with product applications as well as recommending and tailoring, if appropriate, specially blended propellants for specific applications. St. Marks Powder has the infrastructure to ship propellants internationally.

 

Major Position Responsibilities

 Must gain thorough knowledge of all operating and safety procedures. Tasks that may be required, but not limited to:

  • Transport samples, raw materials and supplies.
  • Transport product by using a hand dolly and powder van (truck).
  • Maintain operating log, prepare labels as required, and accurately record information.
  • Operate pneumatic and other required tools.
  • Operate hoisting equipment.
  • Participate in Hazmat/Fire Brigade
  • Drive tractor-trailer rig to move NC trailers, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Bending, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching above shoulder level,
  • Repetitive pushing & trucking of up to 250 pounds and lifting of up to 55 pounds.
  • May also include periodic use of a respirator.
  • Finger, hand, and other physical dexterity required.
  • Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, and rotate from day shift to night shift every 14 days.
  • Must be able to perform all job requirements in a non-climate controlled environment.
  • Weekend work/Overtime is required

Basic Qualifications

  • Must having passing scores on the Work Keys Skills Tests administered by CareerSource Capital Region.
  • Must have the ability to communicate, read, and write
  • Must have the ability to learn and understand oral and written instruction.
  • Must be dependable; have an acceptable work record including attendance.
  • Must have the physical dexterity to operate equipment and instrumentation.
  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be capable of passing task certifications, and powder van driving test.
  • Must have a strong desire to work and have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check. Felony and/or misdemeanor charges for crimes involving violence; weapons; controlled substances; sexual activity/offense; domestic violence; theft; dishonesty; or burglary will disqualify an applicant from consideration for employment with St. Marks Powder.
  • BATFE clearance required
  • Must have a valid State Driver’s License with less than 2 moving or non-moving violations in the past 7 years.
