The primary mission of this high visibility leadership position is managing assigned programs with respect to performance, schedule and cost with responsibility for program profit and loss.


Directs all phases of program from inception through completion. Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs. Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes. Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract. Acts as primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test. Develops new business or expands the product line with the customer. Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications. Directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, manufacturing and administrative areas.

Major Position Responsibilities

The responsibilities associated with this program execution focused role include:

  • Execute program activities in accordance with established company program management procedures.
  • Attain company objectives by managing one or more projects to ensure the quality, schedule, cost and delivery of product that meets customer specified requirements.
  • Function as the primary company interface for assigned projects to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Establish and meet all project financial goals such as cash flow, orders, sales and profit.
  • Effectively lead a multi-functional project team of contracts, engineering, finance, quality, purchasing, manufacturing, and business development personnel to achieve project success.
  • Identify, assess and manage risk
  • Stimulate continuous product improvement through the introduction of emerging technologies, processes and materials.
  • Coordinate the development of a qualified supplier base.
  • Lead proposal development activities for assigned projects.
  • Pursue related business growth opportunities.
  • Identify and coordinate independent research and proposal development resources.
  • Facilitate communication as appropriate to all stakeholders.
  • Optimize competing business and project priorities.
  • Approve, track and report all appropriate program expenditures.
  • Analyze all changes in program scope to minimize business risk.
  • Supervise, train, compensate, recognize, motivate, and evaluate direct reports.
  • Regular domestic and International Travel Required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Business or Technical discipline; MS or MBA desirable
  • 12 or more years of experience with a majority in a DoD related contracting environment is required.
  • 5 or more years in a program management leadership role with P&L responsibility
