Overview

 

A world class aerospace defense contractor conveniently located between Atlanta and Birmingham, AL seeks a qualified Senior Manager of Contracts. Major Position Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY: Direct and promote all contract activities associated with GD-OTS Anniston Operations’ business in order to maximize profitability and economic value added. Responsible for all contract activities for the Operations Business Unit. Must interface strongly with internal and external customers. Supervise the Contracts functional department to ensure meeting the facility goals and objectives. Owns, directs, manages, tracks, and coordinates all customer orders activities and requirements by completing the essential functions as follows:

  • Provide input and direction based on assessment of customer input to support implementation of the strategic direction of the business.
  • Provide direction to the Contracts group to ensure maintenance of the contractual needs of the business and support our general business position.
  • Ensure that broad contacts with private and Government sectors of the business community are maintained in order to maximize business opportunities and assess competitive activity.
  • Responsible for subordinate roles which maintain the following on respective programs:
  • First line communication with customer for contract matters
  • Interface with other depts, i.e., manufacturing, PIC, schedules, engineering, and purchasing in order to meet contract and customer requirements.
  • Responsible for contract schedule and cost-to-contract.
  • Manage an annual sales/business budget in excess of $50M for a broad area of products.
  • Liaison with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Quality, Supply Chain and the other elements of the Business Team.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director/GM.

Basic Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 15 years in related experience. Or 20+ years’ related experience without degree.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge of Government regulations and guidelines.
  • Advanced training/education in business/management aspects desired.

Major Competencies/Skills: 

Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills directed toward cultivating and maintaining critical business relationships.·    Must possess a thorough knowledge of Government Procurement Process and Regulations.   Strong computer literacy.    Must be capable of learning specifications of domestic and international products. Must have program management experience in a DoD contract atmosphere.

Outstanding written and oral communication skills.  Ability to manage others. Business area/product knowledge to include technical, cost and manufacturing expertise.
