The Quality Engineer will build and maintain quality plans for Machined components being contract manufactured throughout the process, including Milling, Turning, pre/post machining operations and the manufacturing process. Ensure the effectiveness & improvement of the Quality Management System – QMS and to maintain and build a culture of Quality and Continuous Improvement throughout the organization.

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Audits standards, policies, procedures and work instructions to ensure the product quality is maintained in conformance with contractual requirements.
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes with the goal of continuously improving process performance, machine utilization and reduction in setup time.
  • Reviews customer drawings to ensure production readiness and inspect-ability.
  • Manages the Non-conforming Material process, including root cause analysis and corrective action and preventative action implementation.
  • Performs internal audits in accordance with internal audit schedule.
  • Evaluate supplier performance, issue SCARs and perform on-site audits as needed.
  • Participates in customer audits as required.
  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.
  • Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
  • Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement and analytical equipment and facilities.
  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.
  • May specialize in areas of quality control engineering, such as design, gage design review, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, automating testing, software, research and development and administrative application.
  • Experience to manage and communicate monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to Senior Management.
  • Experience in establishing effective and efficient processes for receiving, in-process, final inspection and customer returned products (RMA).
  • Experience in managing customer complaints, develop corrective action to enhance customer satisfaction & problem resolution.
  • Other duties as requested.

Basic Qualifications

Education: One or combination of:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years relevant work experience;
  • Associate’s degree and 4 years relevant work experience;
  • 6 years of relevant work experience in a Quality/Machining environment.


Experience: 4-6 years Quality Technician, internal auditing, SPC implementation, ISO qualification, ISO implementation, and product inspection. Experience in a machining environment required.


Special Knowledge, Skills Abilities: Strong leadership skills, Mentoring, Software programs/spreadsheets, Strong knowledge of GD&T, SPC and statistics.


Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively on technical issues, some technical language interpretation and ability to reiterate this language to simple terms. Participate in panel discussions, debates and business meetings. Effectively present projects and updates to medium sized groups. Write in a business context, provide summaries and reports


Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. General accounting principals.


Reasoning Ability: Ability to interpret technical drawing and sketches. Apply principals to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
