Overview

Quality Engineer, responsible for all aspects of quality throughout the life cycle of commercial and military metal parts manufacturing programs.

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Reviews program solicitations for quality requirements in order to estimate gage costs as well as times for inspection, testing and quality engineering oversight.
  • Devises sampling procedures, designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality data.
  • Performs drawing reviews to determine call out correctness, and inspectability.
  • Designs custom gages, selects standard measuring equipment and requisitions the same.
  • Creates first article test plans and certification paperwork as well as lead customer source inspections.
  • Audits standards, policies, procedures and work instructions to ensure the product quality is maintained in conformance with contractual requirements.
  • Evaluates systems based on audits and quality costs reporting, effecting corrective actions and quality improvements.
  • Establishes programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of test, and measurement equipment.
  • Dispositions discrepant material and assesses cost and responsibility.
  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality.
  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.
  • Makes final determination of shop floor quality issues.
  • Monitors SPC data and reports on trends and continuous improvement programs.
  • Other duties as requested.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Quality Systems or related field.
  • 2 years Quality Professional, internal auditing, SPC implementation, ISO qualification, ISO implementation, or product inspection
  • Ability to self-direct, solve practical problems and meet multiple priorities
  • Strong leadership skills, Mentoring, Software programs/spreadsheets,
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, SPC,  statistical inference, plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. General accounting principles.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex technical drawings.
