Overview

GD-OTS is looking for an experienced Engineer Technician III - Lab, 1st shift (will also need to be flexibe at working a Split shift) to join our Lincoln, NE organization.  We are expanding rapidly and looking for motivated and creative individuals who want to help support and shape this organization as we grow.

 

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems provides reliable and affordable composite products to the defense and commercial aerospace markets. With more than 50 years of expertise, General Dynamics designs, develops, manufactures and tests a full range of composite missile and space structures, including rocket motors, pressure vessels, launch tubes and fuel tanks.

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Perform activities in Advanced Materials Technology Laboratory.
  • Typical work includes; construction of composite test articles to support design and development efforts, adaption of standard equipment for process development, and assisting senior technicians perform more complex tasks.
  • Fabrication duties will include; filament winding, hand lay-up operations, cycle programming and operation of cure equipment(ovens presses, and autoclaves), operation of machining equipment (lathe, mill, drill press, bank saw, and common hand tools), performing chemical testing, physical testing, instrumentation installation and setup, sectioning of composite test articles, performing structural bonding, application of coatings and paints, and/or CNC machining equipment operation.
  • Other duties include; supporting engineering personnel engaged in the development of new products and processes, and providing assistance in the development of shop fixtures and tooling aids.
  • Work involves hoists and rigging, operating fork trucks, respirator use, use and handling of solvents, uncured resins and adhesives, and other chemical substances.

Basic Qualifications

Strong mechanical aptitude, problem solving, and basic understanding of filament winding, physical testing, instrumentation, and chemistry is required.

 

Applicable technical degree or 2-5 years experience.
