Job Summary

Calibrates, maintains, repairs, installs, and troubleshoots instrumentation and equipment used to measure temperature, light, electrical, mechanical, weight, flow, pipette, pressure, and other properties in materials or the environment. Plans and implements the design, manufacture, installation and/or maintenance of electrical systems and apparatus, such as electric motors, machinery controls, lighting, wiring and power systems/devices, for the generation, transmission and control of electric power

Essential Functions

  • Provides technical assistance and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during, and after manufacturing.  
  • Assists with assembling electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments.  
  • Collaborates with electrical engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve developmental problems.  
  • Supports with analyzing and interpreting test information to resolve design-related problems.  
  • Draws or modifies diagrams and writes engineering specifications to clarify design details and functional criteria of experimental electronics units.  
  • Assists with conducting inspections for quality control and assurance programs, reporting findings and recommendations.  
  • May prepare project cost and work-time estimates. 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Conducts routine inspection and testing to ensure conformance to established calibration standards.
  • Utilizes calibration software and diagnostic tools to identify faults or non-conformance and to track results.

Required Qualifications

  • Required education and experience: Attending a Vocational / Technical School or internal training program OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education & Experience or Skillset 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred education and experience: Experience not required.
  • Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred.
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise. Ability to understand and follow directions. Design expertise. Mathematical skills. Electrical engineering. Metrology. Understands industry and quality concepts and standards such as ISO, GMP, NIST.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. 
  • ​​Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities. 
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.  
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery. 
  • May be requested to work a different shift. 
  • ​​Other job-specific working conditions: ​Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required
  • ​​This position is Safety Sensitive.
