Installs, modif ies, moves, troubleshoots, repairs and dismantles machinery and equipment according to requisition documentation, layout plans, blueprints or other drawings | Prepares installation site by constructing foundations and aligns and fastens machinery to the foundation using hoists, dollies, rollers, trucks, tools, squares, rules and micrometers | Performs operational tests on newly installed, modif ied, repaired and moved machinery and equipment to ensure that it meets technical specif ications | Fabricates metal parts for prototype equipment based on drawings | Programs PLCs (programmable logic controllers)
• Assists with the installation, operation, testing, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments.
• Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
• Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
• Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Performs manual tasks according to established procedures
• Requires basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process
• Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines
• Works with close supervision
Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 2-4 years experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
