General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), a premier provider of ordnance weapons and tactical systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, has an opening for an onsite Chief Finance Officer (CFO) for the Munitions (MUN) Strategic Business Unit (SBU) to join our St. Petersburg, FL Team.

Summary:

 

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will act as a key business partner to the Sr. VP & GM of Munitions (MUN) and the executive leadership team. This person will be a big-picture visionary with a hands-on approach to execution. The CFO will provide strategic leadership for all SBU financial activities. This role requires a dynamic leader who embodies the GD-OTS ETHOS, with an unwavering commitment to the highest ethical standards. The CFO will develop strong relationships with the MUN SBU and executive leadership team, and internal operational leaders to establish trust and alignment. Will perform a variety of financial activities, including accounting, financial analysis, audit, tax, credit and collections. Develop and evaluate financial plans and policies. Establish and maintain accounting, financial, and reporting policies and controls. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on operational experience in a heavy, multi-site industrial manufacturing environment with demonstrated success at driving productivity improvements. 

 

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Plans and leads business unit financial operations, reporting, and governance to ensure financial health and support high-level strategic planning
  • Develops and drives the financial strategy, including capital allocation, funding initiatives, and resource management to support business unit goals
  • Collaborates with senior leaders to ensure financial controls, policies, and priorities are integrated across business operations
  • Oversees budgeting and forecasting to ensure resources and efforts align with the business’s mission
  • Researches and adopts emerging technologies, tools, and best practices to enhance reporting, forecasting, or operational efficiency
  • Negotiates and leads funding opportunities through debt, equity, and various financial instruments to support business operations, optimize cash flow, and manage risk
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & Senior Leadership

 

Basic Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree 
  • OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
  • 12-15 years’ experience in a relevant function 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related discipline
  • Corporate finance/operations experience with a consistent track record of progressively increased responsibilities
  • CPA and/or MBA 
  • Experience within the defense industry 
  • Working knowledge of munitions: associated platforms, strategic and tactical systems, and military munitions/platform interface requirements

  • Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of concepts, principles, practices and procedures of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments
  • Strong computer skills, administrative data control, scheduling and team interface
