Overview

Support the financial close function for consolidated GD-OTS including responsibility for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of actuals to GD Corporate, and the consolidation and review of 19 business unit ledgers. Collaborate with GD-OTS business unit finance personnel on accounting and financial close matters and perform evaluation of business unit submissions for completeness and accuracy. This individual will support the management of the GD-OTS Home Office ledger, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and support SOX-related compliance.

 

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded.  
  • Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.  
  • Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.  
  • Analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.

Basic Qualifications

  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience or Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Account reconciliation. Balance sheet analysis. Bank reconciliation. Calculate depreciation. Financial accounting. Financial reporting. General ledger accounting. Month-end close. Quarter-end close. Revenue recognition. Spreadsheets. Year-end close. GAAP standards. Accounting software. 
  • Critical professional related technical skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
  • Discipline/Major: Business, Finance or Accounting degree preferred.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

 

Travel:

  • No or very little travel likely.
