Overview

Support GD-OTS’ continuous improvement initiative to assist in the implementation of accounting and financial reporting process optimization across the organization. Develop reports and tools to standardize various accounting and financial reporting related transactions including journal entries, account reconciliations, and other transactions to ensure the integrity of accounting records and SOX-related compliance. Collaborate with GD-OTS business unit finance personnel and on accounting matters and to provide financial support.

 

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded.  
  • Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.  
  • Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.  
  • Analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.

Basic Qualifications

  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 3-5 years' experience or Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Account reconciliation. Balance sheet analysis. Bank reconciliation. Calculate depreciation. Financial accounting. Financial reporting. General ledger accounting. Month-end close. Quarter-end close. Revenue recognition. Spreadsheets. Year-end close. GAAP standards. Accounting software. 
  • Critical professional related technical skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
  • Discipline/Major: Business, Finance or Accounting degree preferred.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

 

Travel:

  • No or very little travel likely.
