Overview

The Mfg Engineer I: Plans, designs and constructs manufacturing facilities and related structures | Determines facility specifications, including analysis and evaluation of location, material resources and structural design| Resolves technical problems and recommends production improvements

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Determines the parts, equipment, tools, and processes needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications. 
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. 
  • Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes. 
  • Confers with vendors in order to determine specifications of products and arrange equipment, material purchase, and parts. 
  • Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards.

Basic Qualifications

Required Education:  Associates Degree 

Preferred Education:  Bachelor's Degree

Discipline/Major: General Engineering or specialized Engineering degree required

 

Years and Area of Experience:  0-3 years experience in a relevant funciton.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Oral and written communication skills. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Problem-solving skills. Analytical thinking skills. Design expertise. Leadership skills.
