Overview

The Sr Director of Operations is a key member of the OTS team, reporting directly to the VP of Operations and at times will be ‘Acting” on his behalf when needed. This role is responsible for support of operational strategy for 26 sites that comprises the OTS Division. The goal of this position is to create and direct implementation of programs and drive business to sustainable improvement; in addition to coaching and mentoring continuous improvement and all senior operations professionals. To succeed in this role, you must have excellent judgment, planning and organizing skills; be motivated and be able to motivate others, exhibit professionalism and think strategically. 

 

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Directs manufacturing operations and management teams for plants and locations of the organization that support business goals.
  • Incorporates the organizational strategy and plans for operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs in manufacturing processes.
  • Monitors production metrics and recommends process improvements, new technologies, and methods to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Drives workforce planning activities and approves/ allocates resources based on business priorities.
  • Implements long-term plans for facilities, equipment, materials, technology, and workforce resources to maintain manufacturing capacity and processes.
  • Leads and directs the work of other managers and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Review, support, measure and help drive Operational Goals and Objectives Develop, implement and sustain the Manufacturing Excellence and Execution Strategic Plan and actions as part of the overall Operating plan.
  • Responsible for coordination and execution of the various site assessments; measure, track and execute plans for continuous improvement and sustainment. Proliferate “Best Practices” and continuous improvement across locations; track and monitor measured results.
  • Drive sustainable business continuous improvement. Coordinate, measure and drive improvement to the major Operations cost reduction, efficiency and plant utilization improvement strategic initiatives. Participate and lead activities for the OTS Manufacturing Council and Lean Steering Committee. Implement and drive the various appropriate initiatives, best practices and metrics across the organization. Certify individuals to be Kaizen leaders and LSS GBs.
  • Generate, coordinate, measure and improve the Operations metrics. Continual evolution of the metrics to enhance the performance measurement process.
  • Participate and drive necessary future manufacturing requirements and needs as part of key significant SBU/program new initiatives using the various tools (e.g. DFM, tailoring matrix, lean initiatives etal).   
  • Assist in the initiative for improved ‘make’ planning to a defined and measured process forward. Effort coordinated with Supply Chain (‘buy’).
  • Review capital expenditures and work with SBU until acceptable and ready for VP of Operations approval.  Lead OTS SBU Tactical Reviews; summarize and review with the President. 

 

Basic Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree and 10-12 years experience Or equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/ or Experience
  • KSAs:
    • Leadership skills.
    • Capacity planning.
    • Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM).
    • Manufacturing operations management.
    • Process optimization. Resource planning.
    • Risk management.
    • Safety policies and procedures.
    • Performance metrics. Organizational goal setting.
    • Strategic Planning
    • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
    • Team building.
    • ERP systems.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Must be willing to travel 25-50%.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business
  • Exposure to Department of Defense (DoD) policies and procedures.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and operational leadership.
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Have good interpersonal and communications skills, as well as the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics. Strong attention to detail and data driven.
  • Leadership ability that complements team-based management environment.
  • Must be a leader in continuous improvement and exercise independent judgment while operating under limited direction.
  • Must have the ability to Problem solve, excellent Interpersonal skills, work well with a team, be a visionary leader, and have proven business acumen.
  • Excel superuser
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and communicate recommendations effectively with others. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to collect and interpret intonation, apply criteria and make recommendations.

Pay Range (USD)

$142,100.00-$263,900.00

Additional Compensation - ICP

Hired applicant will be eligible to participate in the Company’s Incentive Compensation Program.

PTO, Holiday, and Family Leave

Employees will receive 11 paid holidays and 120 hours of PTO annually and up to 3 weeks paid family leave.
