Overview

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systmes manufactures and sells a broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance markets.  We presently have a need for a Sr Electrical Engineer at our San Diego (Otay Mesa) location

This position is responsible for planning, organizing and reviewing the performance of professional and/or technical staff performing engineering work related to the design of control electronics for motion control products.

 

Preferred experience for this role:

  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical testing methods, data collection and analysis, equipment used in testing, and methods/processes of testing operations
  • Experience with embedded C for motor control 
  • Knowledge of feedback devices for motor control such as hall sensors, resolvers and encoders
  • Experience with multiple serial communications protocols such as SPI, I2C, RS232/RS485
  • Gigabit Ethernet direct experience is a plus
  • Strong research, design, and development knowledge within the electrical engineering discipline including the knowledge of control systems.
  • Proficient with MATLAB and SIMULINK applications.
  • Altium Designer skillset is a plus

 

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and tests electrical equipment, components, circuits, or systems.
  • Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to designs.
  • Performs extensive testing and validation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards are achieved.
  • Conducts research and studies new technologies to innovate and design solutions or products.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Required Education and Experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years experience
  • Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree
  • Discipline/Major: Electrical Engineering or other Engineering degree required

Pay Range (USD)

$82,005-$152,295

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training. Additional Compensation

Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company’s Gain Sharing Program.
