The Sr Principal Chemical Engineer will perform engineering work related to the operation of chemical plant equipment and processes. Preferred wide application of advanced principles, theories, and concepts in the propulsion field with a working knowledge of related disciplines such as thermal, structural, and ballistics analysis. Broad knowledge and experience with energetics, solid propellants and related materials, products. Substantial experience with physics-based modeling of related technologies such as polymer mechanics, environmental degradation and aging, combustion, detonation, particle packing, rheology. If not local to our Camden AR site, 50% travel will be required. Substantial experience in one of the following preferred:

  • Propellant/explosive formulation for product development, scale-up and manufacturing
  • Energetic material manufacturing and synthesis
  • Energetics material hazards analysis, testing and mitigation strategy development.
  • Case bondline development, processing, and adhesion science
  • Physical testing and characterization of propellant and subsystems

 

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Conducts research and development projects involving the study of chemical reactions and material properties to innovate and develop new products or optimize existing products. 
  • Designs experiments and builds prototypes and models used to investigate and support the development of improved chemicals, materials, products, and manufacturing processes. 
  • Compiles and analyzes testing data. 
  • Presents research results used to estimate costs, establish performance standards, identify solutions, and facilitate processes. 
  • Maintains lab and plant safety procedures for chemical storage, handling, transport, and disposal. 
  • Complies with all safety and environmental regulations. 

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Required Education: Associate's Degree
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Discipline/Major: Chemical Engineering or other engineering degree required
  • Years and Area of Experience (required for the role): 10-12 years experience
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Chemical engineering. Manufacturing process engineering. Product development. Prototyping. Research and development. Industry standards. Scientific testing. Oral and written communication. Critical thinking. Analytical thinking.
  • Critical Professional Related Technical Skills; Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

 

 

Pay Range (USD)

$116,550- $216,450

Pay Transparency Statement

The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the range during the hiring process.

Additional Compensation - ICP

Hired applicant will be eligible to participate in the Company’s Incentive Compensation Program.

PTO, Holiday, and Family Leave
