Overview

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, a premier provider of ordnance weapons and tactical systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, has an opening for an onsite Contracts, Sr Director, located in St. Petersburg, FL. This position will work closely with the executive leadership team of the business unit and several locations across the portfolio. 

 

Participates in the development and fulfillment of contract requirements in the purchase or sale/delivery of equipment, materials, products or services | Evaluates contract compliance and advises others on contractual rights and obligations | Requests or approves amendments to contract terms or contract extensions | Prepares bids or requests for proposals (RFPs), including specifications and requirements; negotiates contract terms and participates in the determination of acceptable bids.

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Directs the strategy of the organization's contract administration function.
  • Collaborates with legal team to ensure the preparation of proposals, negotiation processes, and contract administration follow company policies and adhere to legal requirements.
  • Develops, prepares, revises, and administers contracts, bids, and proposals that meet specifications and comply with all policies and regulations.
  • Oversees the negotiation and administration of the organization's contracts.
  • Maintains contract records used to ensure compliance with reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops policies and processes that govern the contract administration staff and provide guidance on contract terms and the assessment of contract proposals.
  • Utilizes expert knowledge of the contract life cycle, types of contracts, and applicable government regulations to lead and develop strategies for negotiation of complex or high-value contracts to meet business objectives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Required Education: Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of relevent educatiion &/or experience
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business or relevant degree
  • 12 - 15 years experience in a relevant function, Government contracts experience preferred.
  • Oral and written communication skills. Ability to drive strategic direction.  Contract compliance. Contract lifecycle management. Contract negotiation. Contracts management & administration. Contract review. Contracting terms and conditions. Contract management software.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
