Summary:

 

The EHS Specialist II will Design, develop, implement and oversee the organization's environmental, health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and to ensure that all facilities are in compliance with regulations. The role will be the site resource for the safety practices, communications, inspections, investigations, policies, training, and documentation.

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Outlines and implements policies or programs to educate and promote employee health and safety or environmental compliance
  • Delivers training programs educating staff on environmental concerns or health and safety risks found in the organization
  • Communicates regularly with management and administration regarding the status of environmental initiatives
  • Ensures that training records, health/safety manuals or handbooks, incident/accident reports, or other documentation are appropriately maintained
  • Tracks and documents accidents to understand causes and recommend changes to prevent future accidents
  • Monitors known health, safety, or environmental hazards, such as noise, air, or wastewater pollution levels
  • Coordinates inspection of facilities, vehicles, or equipment and processes recommending corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established regulations
  • Communicates facility-specific emergency response or evacuation plans
  • Has a broad and current knowledge of all government and applicable industry safety regulations

Basic Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree
  • Equivalent Combination of Relevent Education & Experience
  • 2-4 years experience relevant to the positions functional area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Human Resources or related discipline
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EHS regulations & ISO14001 and 45001 and capable of leading regulatory audits

  • Experience with Operational Process Safety Management (PSM) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHS)

  • Environmental Health and Safety, Human Resources or related discipline

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time
  • Conduct specialized EHS training through written and verbal instruction as well as develop and applicable training refresher due dates
  • Evaluates human activities working with machinery and equipment to identify hazards
  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments to ensure compliance with EHS standards
  • Participate in accident investigations and workers compensation reviews
  • Calculate EHS metric data and routinely report to leadership teams the Key Performance Index metrics (KPI’s) goals and achievements
  • Collaborate and support ISO / Occupational Health and Safety Management systems maintenance and renewals

Other Requirements:

  • Proficiency with MS Office 365 tools
  • Regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities

Pay Range (USD)

Note: The compensation information listed is a good faith estimate range for this position, it is estimated based on what a successful applicant might be paid: $59,500.00 - $110,500.00

Additional Compensation

Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company’s Gain Sharing Program.

PTO, Holiday, and Family Leave
