Overview

General Dynamics OTS San Diego is looking for a Sr Manufacturing Engineering Technician who will provide technical support to the Manufacturing Engineering group for mechanical and electrical engineering related activities that support new product production, test equipment maitenance and current manufacturing needs.

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and write assembly and test procedures, ensuring engineering requirements on assembly drawings are being met.
  • Maintain, support, repair existing test equipment. Reverse engineering of existing test equipment (both mechanical and electrical systems/schematics).
  • Investigate, disposition and process, with support from engineers as required, non-conformances and returned material rework or repairs (RMA).
  • Design tooling and fixtures to support both new product development and manufacturing improvements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen events, and actively seek lean opportunities within the design engineering department processes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must possess an associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electro-Mechanical/ MechatronicsEngineering, or related degree and/or a minimum of 3 years’ experience or training preferably in a similar type of manufacturing environment
  • Bilingual in English-Spanish a strong plus

  • Knowledge and application of Lean and Six Sigma highly desired

  • Must be able to work with common hand tools and operate laboratory equipment

  • Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field required

  • Must be organized and detail oriented

  • LabView Experience a plus

  • Experienced reading material and process specifications, engineering drawings, technical reports, manuals, layups and work instructions

  • GD&T exposure/experience a plus

  • SOLIDWORKS proficiency

  • Ability to read and develop mechanical and electrical schematics

  • Knowledge/experience with ERP system a plus

  • Experience with a Microsoft Office products

Pay Range (USD)

$42,350.00 - $78,650.00

Additional Compensation

Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company’s Gain Sharing Program.
