Overview

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is looking for an experienced Quality Control Technician 3 - 2nd Shift (Calibration) to join our Lincoln, NE organization. We are expanding rapidly and looking for motivated and creative individuals who want to help support and shape this organization as we grow.

 

GD-OTS provides reliable and affordable composite products to the defense and commercial aerospace markets. With more than 50 years of expertise, General Dynamics designs, develops, manufactures, and tests a full range of composite missile and space structures, including rocket motors, pressure vessels, launch tubes and fuel tanks.

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration, maintenance, and repairs of tools and equipment in line with established SOPs.
  • Calibration of standard and specialized inspection equipment (i.e., micrometers, calipers, scales, Pi tapes, height gages, gage pins, gage blocks, surface comparators, multimeters, balances, and other standard tools/gages/instruments). Also, performs calibrations of ovens, coolers, and freezers.
  • Perform detailed review of manufacturer certification documentation.
  • Interpret drawings, prepare, and maintain calibration/inspection records as required by established procedures.
  • Perform calibration and approve products and accessories that meet tolerances and product specifications.
  • Manage repair and calibration of assessment tools and measurement of equipment inclusive of general purpose.
  • Administer all calibration methods and procedures.
  • Manage workload to achieve production schedules and ensure completion within timeframe.
  • Coordinate with production and engineering departments for internal and external customers.
  • Prepare all documentation applicable for various assignments.
  • Perform inspection and calibrate all tooling equipment with help of electronic, vacuum and pressure equipment and ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain control and traceability related to tooling inside shop and outside vendors.
  • Gather and document the data records related to calibration.
  • Perform calculations to confirm compliance to geometric dimensioning and tolerance schemes.
  • Perform in-process inspection of products with use of standard and specialized inspection equipment. i.e., micrometer, etc.
  • Determine accept/reject decisions and document Nonconformances (NCs) accordingly.
  • Interpret drawings, prepares, and maintains inspections records as required by established procedures.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2 – 3 years of experience in Calibration preferred,
  • Associate degree in technical field.
  • Competent in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances).
  • Fully proficient knowledge of drawing interpretation and procedures.
  • Skill in using basic inspection/measurement tools.
  • Good mechanical skills, high attention to detail, and good computer skills.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required.
