Overview

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is seeking an experienced and well-rounded individual to manage projects for our international, commercial and new development programs in our Rockets business area at our Huntsville, AL Operations. This individual will function as the primary company interface to the customer and work in concert with business development. This individual will manage the production, technical, cost, schedule, and risk across assigned projects. This individual will communicate with company leadership on the plans, status, issues and risks. This individual will execute program activities in accordance with established company program management procedures and meet all program financial goals such as cash flow, orders, sales and profit. This individual will pursue related business growth opportunities and optimize competing business and project priorities. This individual will be responsible for program compliance with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures while meeting company objectives by managing one or more projects to ensure the quality, schedule, cost and delivery of product that meets customer specified requirements.

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Understanding of international business arrangements (i.e. Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs) and familiarity with ITAR import and export requirements.
  • Understanding of Department of Transportation requirements for transportation of explosive items
  • Understanding of Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Fire Arms and Explosives (BATFE) and hazardous classification requirements.
  • Leadership of multi-functional project team of contracts, engineering, finance, quality, purchasing, manufacturing, and business development personnel to achieve project success.
  • Sponsor and promotion of continuous product improvement through the introduction of emerging technologies, processes and materials.
  • Coordination of the development of a qualified supplier base.
  • Coordination of hardware production activities
  • Leadership of proposal development activities including strategic plan, WBS, IMP/IMS and BOE development. .
  • Facilitation of communication as appropriate to all stakeholders.
  • Approval of and track and report all appropriate program expenditures and tasks.
  • Supervision, training, compensation, recognition, motivation, and evaluation of direct and indirect reports.

Basic Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other Science related discipline or 10+ years of relevant experience.

               

Preferred:

  • MS or MBA desirable.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification

 

Experience

Required:

  • 9 or more years experience with a majority in a DoD related contracting environment is required.
  • 3 or more years in a program management role.

 

Preferred:

  • Management of programs with international customers.
  • Management of development programs.
