Overview

GD-OTS is looking for a Sr. Financial Analyst to join our Lincoln, NE research and development organization.  We are expanding rapidly and looking for motivated and creative individuals who want to help support and shape this organization as we grow. 

 

GD-OTS provides reliable and affordable composite products to the defense and commercial aerospace markets. With more than 50 years of expertise, General Dynamics designs, develops, manufactures and tests a full range of composite missile and space structures, including rocket motors, pressure vessels, launch tubes and fuel tanks

Major Position Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Work is performed under general direction. Participates in determining objectives or assignment. Plan schedules and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives.
  • Active participant in the Bid & Proposal process through the preparation of cost estimates using standard estimating tools by interpreting and analyzing functional inputs provided by Operations, Sourcing, Engineering, Quality and Program Management across multiple Work Breakdown Structure elements or tasks.
  • Participates in the development of budgets for assigned contracts and tracks performance to budgets.
  • Conducts audits and analysis of the organization’s direct and indirect costs and reviews their practices and procedures ensuring that labor and non-labor charges are approved, allowable and processed in a timely manner.
  • Analyzes assigned contracts’ projected staff hours, contract totals, revenues and profit totals.
  • Collects and reviews financial data from various sources and able to present financial information while providing conclusions and recommendations to improve the financial performance of the organization.
  • Creates, maintains, and updates financial databases and spreadsheets and generates various financial reports as required.
  • Maintains appropriate records and documentation. Supports assigned managers in managing, tracking, monitoring and reporting financial data as requested.
  • May have risk identification and recovery responsibilities.
  • Maintains correct knowledge of and ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as DAR, FAR, SOX and other government regulations.
  • Provides guidance and work leadership to less experienced analysts.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

Industry or manufacturing environment experience is preferred. Ability and willingness to work in a team environment with solid communication skills are necessary.

 

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Accounting, Finance or business related field from an accredited four-year college or university; minimum of 5-10 years cost accounting or finance related experience in manufacturing environment strongly preferred. Working FAR and CAS regulation knowledge is a plus.

Math Ability:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate to advanced Excel skills, intermediate skills in PowerPoint and Word. ERP experience with database platforms (Oracle, EPICOR, IFS, PeopleSoft, etc.) is preferred. Use and understanding of standard estimating tools such as ProPricer a plus, but not required.
