Major Position Responsibilities

Manage smaller programs or projects and specific tasks within larger programs relative to customer and business commitments. Essential duties and responsibilities include:


  • Facilitates achievement of financial objectives, works with financial analyst to track and communicate performance
  • Identify and pursue program growth/opportunity initiatives, recommend trade-offs and lead implementation
  • Manage smaller proposals and support program bid, negotiation and contract review
  • Plays a lead role in program planning, baseline schedule management, and program execution
  • Ensure functional management staffing, coordination, execution and accountability across program
  • Documents program requirements and/or objectives in program plan
  • Manage compliance to contract, business and regulatory requirements. Responsible for CDRL and data management
  • Manage program risk and change control
  • Manage earned value management system (EVMS) CDRL items if required by contract
  • Maintain a safe work environment and promote/demonstrate safe behavior

Basic Qualifications


  • Supports execution of program financial performance
  • Self-motivated and able to lead multiple tasks in program execution
  • Developing ability to work in stressful situations and under tight timelines
  • Ability to access business systems to obtain operations , supply chain and financial data in support of program activities
  • Ability to assess program execution/processes and recommend improvements
  • Developing ability to process multiples sources of information and quickly focus on the key elements
  • Developing written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Support program manager in assessing personnel performance and gaps, and work with team to close those gaps
  • Ability to mentor, coach and develop team members



Required:   Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or a related technical field and/or equivalent 7+ years of relevant experience





  • 5 or more years of combined experience with program planning elements, earned value management systems (EVMS), progress tracking activities, risk management and contract or subcontract management skills. Expert PC skills with working knowledge of MS Office tools, including MS Project.


  • Experience in a DoD business environment and DoD systems engineering processes, methods and standards
  • Experience with international customers
  • Experience with development programs
