Overview

This position will focus on setting and raising the bar on acceptable product and processes, through root cause analysis of failures, process improvement activities, and consultation with manufacturing staff and other engineering staff. Provides assistance to engineering in resolving process and/or equipment problems. Works with production to resolve manufacturing problems to ensure that process specifications are followed. Run engineering tests and experiments; collects data; reports results.

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing intermediate functions associated with all mechanical assembly operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
  • Installation of equipment (new and relocation of existing equipment)
  • Assist in layouts of new and existing manufacturing lines
  • Assist in problem solving and root cause analysis of issues and failures in the process
  • Self-starter with the ability to complete complex assignments while determining and/or following methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units.
  • Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications and work authorization documentation.
  • Uses sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate intermediate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment.
  • Determines and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process. Works with engineers in conducting experiments. Able to identify problems and issues in all situations resulting in collaborating with engineering in a viable solution.
  • Assist engineering with research and development needs for manufacturing
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers on troubleshooting and implementation of tool proofs in the manufacturing lines.
  • Build and troubleshoot prototype products and fixtures

Basic Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Engineering or related technical field plus 6 to 8 years related work experience.
